Wie einige von euch wissen verwende ich WordPress für meine Webseite. Durch Zufall bin ich daraufgestossen dass WordPress in seiner neuen Version nun bei jedem Aufruf zu Google telefoniert um einen Webfont zu laden. Der Link muss irgendwo im Code stecken. Das bedeutet, jedesmal wenn jemand meine Webseite aufruft zählt Google lustig mit.
Das ist eine echte Sauerei von WordPress! Und meine Begeisterung für WordPress ist mit dieser Aktion schwer gesunken. Meine Homepage ist mein Eigentum, und keine Werbeplattform oder Userzählplattform für Google. Solche Sachen machen mich richtig sauer.
Glücklicherweise gibt es auch schon ein Plugin das diese Telefoniererei unterbindet. Es nennt sich Disable Google Fonts. Ich habe es soeben installiert. Fingers crossed dass es zukünftige Kontaktaufnahmen unterbindet.
Ich verwende sowieso einen Standardfont. Und für mich sieht die Seite immer noch normal aus. Ich hoffe mal dass es für andere nicht allzu schlimm aussieht.
Thank you so much for your advice. I kept looking in the source code to remove this google-font-call-thingy, but it wasn’t as easy as one would think. They are getting better at hiding it in complicated functions. The function itself wasn’t that hard to find … but disable the thing without wrecking the rest of the site is a whole other matter. Since this call decreased the performance of my site condiserably, I just had to remove it.
This plug-in did just the trick. It’s now gone, and I do hope it never ever returns.
To be totally honest I’m starting to disliking Google more and more every day. They want to control the internet. They are getting very sleek at monitoring our behavior and deciding for us (thus taking away our freedom) on what we reach/see/do online and what not. It’s starting to get really scary if you think about it.
