reiner-s tilecutter version 1- 0 english

Tilecutter is a special program for cutting out predefined rectangular areas of a Picture.Therefor it makes a screenshot of the area between the red brackets and then store it as 24 bit bitmaps with growing number. Minimumsize of the capture area: 16 x 16 Pixel. Maximum: 512 x 512 Pixel

The idea for this program appeared, when i wanted to cut out squares and rectangles, with the corresponding graphics at them, out of one of my Tilesets, to store them externally. Why? Well, the early and some of the newer Gamemaking programs also use Tilesets, where all the graphics of a game are stored at. RPG-Maker2000 for example. Also Some Blitz Basic user uses tilesets … . I also offer tilesets at my page. And sometimes you don’ t need the whole set, but single Pictures of it. Or maybe you want to collect your own tileset …

Well, most paint programs do have the possibility to select presized areas. But that´s it in most cases … . What follows is a lot of steps: select area (damn, one pixel too far away … ), copy selection, make new picture, paste, save as (huh, overwritten the wrong file. Oh no, i saved my original picture with modifications ) … .

And that´s where Tilecutter is taking its place:

First load a picture.Then select the size of the area, which should be captured, navigate to the picture position, press SPACEBAR or klick at the save as.bmp Button. And that´s it. The area is stored in the shots folder as 24 bit *.bmp file. So, once, if the area is defined, it is a thing of 2 buttons to do the capturing and saving: arrowbuttons to navigate, and Spacebar to save the shot … .

The use isn’t limited on Tilesets, though, but approaches generally all areas in which one wants to cut out single rectangular areas of a picture without having too much trouble to hit the area. Not talking of saving as …

Maybe you want to cut a big picture into pieces for your homepage, to underlay a table. Or because of its size …

But for continuing to work on then, you still need a paint program. This would be too much for the possibilities of my small Proggie …
