Downtimes

I am playing around at the server at the moment. Unfortunately this can lead to some down times here and there. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Hi Reiner,
    I really love your graphics and 3D models, they have been a huge help to me throughout many of my games. I have a quick question though, would it be possible for you to upload your 3D models with the animations and rigging that you have in you games? The 3D models you currently have up are not rigged and do not have animations, so it is slightly more difficult to work with them. Again I really appreciate everything you have done by allowing others to use your work like this, thanks, and if it is too much of a hassle I really understand.

    Hi Logty,

    I´ve of course thought of it before. But animation is a very special chapter. I prefer to do keyframe animation for example. Others may want to apply motion capturing data because they look more natural. I just need a handful of animations. Others may need totally different animations. And finally, i may decide to add, modify or to remove animations while development. This all would lead to a big overhead of work at my end. And that`s what has stopped me from publishing animated characters for now. Animations are simply too specific. So the answer stays no, sorry.

    There are rigging services like Mixamo. Or the still free Web Animate. There`s plenty of software that can work with Motion Capture data. Blender is able to do that for example. And there`s lots of free Mocap data out there. And then there`s Mecanim in Unity now too.
